As for the rest of us, we had a great day. Caught 2 decent Mahi and a beautiful Sailfish! Husband drank all 12 beers and the drinks were cold all day.
Last year, we went on Gone Dog and definitely prefer Cana's seating better. It's more open and seating is much more comfortable, especially for those that get motion sickness!
Our only complaint (and why I rated a 4 and not a 5) was that the crew wasn't forthcoming about cutting the fish for us to take back to the resort, despite us already generously tipping... we had to ask about it and then they tried to give us a whole Mahi LOL. Like no, we need filets to take back to the resort. It's just a bit frustrating because we only wanted one Mahi and a small filet of the Sailfish for ourselves and it didn't seem like they were thrilled to share... oh well. Still a GREAT time! we'll book Cana again if we return to the DR! We also weren't offered ice for the fish like we were last year, but that's a minor detail.
We asked our driver if they sell their Charter shirts and he took us into a market store where we were able to get 3 Big Marlin Charter shirts, but I feel like we got a bit ripped off ($45/shirt), but oh well! Memories and we asked last year but they were having supply issues due to COVID, so we took the opportunity to buy while they had them in stock.
Unrelated to this particular charter, but if you get seasick, I 100000% recommend Reliefband. It's an electrical pulse wristband that has completely mitigated my severe motion sickness (car, plane, and boat). Also, it will never hurt to take motion sickness medicine so I'd recommend it for the DR, even if you think you have an iron stomach and don't get sick in the states... the waves are totally different here! The person who got sick is very used to off-shore fishing in the States and still got sick.
